PHILOSOPHY
Exercise is the best way to invest in your future health. It is also a great way to explore with yourself, what is going on today, physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s a sacrifice or investment in time and energy that pays huge dividends. These dividends are feeling, looking great and staying healthy as well as doing your job and sports activities or recreational activities at a higher level, more effectively and efficiently. The daily activities that you participate in (your job and sports activities or recreational activities) are factors that determine the type and frequency of exercise you need. Types of exercise are: strength exercises, aerobic exercises, flexibility exercises and endurance exercises. Things like balance, coordination, speed are subcategories in these types of exercise disciplines. The other factors are sleep, breathing and diet.
In most individuals' exercise program the missing ingredients are flexibility training and proper breathing. Unfortunately as we age, our body gradually “slows down”, “breaks down”, and definitely becomes less flexible. Flexibility training involves consistently stretching the major muscles groups of the body in order to improve the body’s overall range of motion.
Keeping a healthy flow of oxygen in your bloodstream is one of the biggest factors in improving your body’s ability to function properly. If you make a habit of breathing the right way from the onset, you’ll maximize the benefits you get from your exercise training.

Diet is more of a factor in weight loss than exercise is. If you are obese, it is best for your health to lose the weight as soon as possible, and for most people that means through some form of dieting. However, the benefits of exercise cannot be understated. Exercise can also be a great way to relieve some stress from your challenging diet program. People who practice both tend to be in better shape and more physically active than those that just diet.
If you are looking to lose some weight, by all means, begin a diet program. But to improve the health of your heart and lungs, muscle tone and overall strength, add an exercise program to your life as well.
